Crafted for those who prefer their coffee on the darker side of the roast spectrum. We take this roast into a rolling second crack, to create an earthy, roasty/smoky profile with hints of bittersweet baker’s chocolate.
Additional Information
This blend started as a seasonal dark roast we offered in the cooler months, but we have decided to keep it on our menu to maintain a darker roast option for many of our customers who love this style. We rotate the blend components of this coffee throughout the year, but we always aim to hit those darker roast tasting notes and carefully select which beans will do it best.
No, we did not name this offering after the worlds largest and most powerful shadow bank and 4th branch of government, even though this roast is sure to please even the most diabolical. Rather, this roast we named after a local landmark here in Watertown: Black Rock State Park. The name “Black Rock” is derived from when early settlers to the Naugatuck Valley were given rights to mine graphite lead by the resident Indians around 1657. The description has persisted through the years, as the contrasting darker-colored rock face gives this local landmark its iconic name. The name seemed an obvious choice and very fitting for this blend as its our darkest roast offered.
