This lot comes from the Gititu Farmers' Cooperative Society which is located in Kiambu County just to the North West of Nairobi. Their washing station (Gititu Factory) was founded in 1971 and comprises 400 members that have coffee processed there. This lot is AA screen size, and consists of the famed SL28 and SL34 coffee varietals which Kenya coffee is so widely known for.
Kenyan coffee beans have several characteristics that make them both delicious and distinctly unique from other coffee producing regions in the world. This offering, is unmistakably classic Kenya. We are getting a lot of sweet red grapefruit and currants upfront, yet the acidity is perfectly balanced out with a nice caramel/ brown sugar syrupy sweetness. It’s sweet, vibrant, floral and refined.
If you've had any of our previous Kenya offerings this one is right up there with them. If you haven't but your a fan of African coffees, be sure to give this one a try. We especially like this one as a pour over, and we are looking forward to enjoying over ice as a refreshing option once warmer weather is back upon us.
